First Aid and CPR are essential skills for everyone, not only divers. As an Emergency First
Response Instructor – EFRi – you can teach first aid techniques based on internationally
recognised directives, and you can offer these training courses to anyone.

The EFR courses make learning easy by providing a comfortable environment to practice the
skills. Your students will finish the training confident with their new techniques and ready to
help someone if needed.

What can you do with as an EFRi?

You can teach the following courses:

  • Emergency First Response Primary Care
  • Emergency First Response Secondary Care
  • Emergency First Response Care for Children
  • Emergency First Response CPR and Defibrillator

The EFRi qualification is needed to become a PADI Instructor but you don’t have to wait to
become a dive professional to complete this course. You can complete or update this
training during your PADI Instructor training.

EFRi prerequisites:

  • To want to do it.
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Emergency First Response or equivalent with an update within the last 24 months.

The training:

Throughout a day long course you’ll learn how to:

  • Present the course content.
  • Encourage the self confidence of your students.
  • Evaluate the understanding of your students and the mastery of the techniques during practical training.
  • Manage reinforcing the learning experience based on realistic scenarios.

2025 dates:

  • An EFRi course is organised during each IDC.

The course includes:

  • Personalised teaching in small groups.
  • The training is managed by a professional who is also a state approved nurse.
  • A good atmosphere!

The course does not include:

  • Accommodation and meals
  • EFRi teaching kit : €200
  • Application and membership fee payable directly to PADI : €138.
